Since 2008 KiwiRail has been working towards a more sustainable New Zealand Rail Network and a major project has been the conversion from treated pine sleepers to their more durable concrete counter parts.

After removing the rail and preparing the ballast, Abernethy Projects CD60 carts in packs of concrete sleepers which are precisely placed by our Hi-Rail Excavator using a specialised sleeper laying attachment.
